Studies shown that recently fewer young citizens vote compared to older citizens not not only in Canada but in other democratic countries. This concern is serious because the democracy depends on the participation of all the citizens in the election process. A study by the Elections of Canada found that only 22.04% of people the ages 18-20 voted in the 2000 federal elections.
